Sony To Focus Completely On SmartPhones in 2012

With an Abysmal Q3 2011 reports where the numbers aren't looking pretty good for the Sony & Co as its sales & markets have dipped drastically when compared to yesteryear. On a Q3 to Q3 based comparison,Sony was able to sell only 9.5M units in Q3 2011 compared to 10.4M last year.Although Q3 2011 seemed to be better than Q2 2011 for Sony where it managed to sell only 7.6M merchandise. The average price of Sony SmartPhones had risen by 10 Euros from 156 last Q3 to almost 166 now.
According to the reports,Sony's Q2 had reported a colossal loss of around 37M Euros. Now complement that with a 38M Euro gain along with an operating margin of 2%.It is also claimed that 80% of Sony's sale featured the SmartPhones where the Xperia itself has shipped over 22M units. The overall margin for the Q3 stands at 27% down 3% year on year which has been one of the worst for Sony Ericsson.
Sony has now revealed that it has decided to focus completely on the SmartPhone market in 2012 & is determined to take back lost grounds & also provide state of the art SmartPhones. It can be implied that we might see more Sony Ericsson Android SmartPhones to hit the market, which means Sony might be phasing out feature or budget phones this time around. As of now Sony Holds Just 12% in the Android industry with a market value of 11%.
