Firefox made its debut in the Android platform almost a year back yet it is currently lagging behind the other conventional browsers available in the Android market like Bolt,Dolphin etc.Now that Google Chrome is also looking to make its appearance in the mobile app,Firefox better step up the process if it doesn't want to loose to Google in the mobile version also,as Google looks all set to overtake Mozilla's market share by the end of 2011.
The Dev team has announced a series of changes to be implemented on to the mobile browser which includes support for a native user interface along with the integration of Flash.Unfortunately these features already exist in the conventional SmartPhone browsers.Having said that the beta version is still a long way from being actually implemented.
The mobile version of Firefox didn't quite click as it was expected to due to the same usual Sluggishness along with usual instability when it comes to plugin's & extensions.Mozilla better start fine-tuning the app now that Chrome will be implemented soon enough and also with Opera mini receiving accolades, things might be going from bad to worse. In the PC domain, with Chrome & Mozilla locked in Browser wars & Google Chrome all set to unseat Firefox as the second best browser,Firefox is literally a sinking ship now.The XUL version has be removed from its predecessor where as it still retains the Gecko engine which improves response time & provides better browsing experience.
The absence of flash support in Firefox is absolutely staggering & flash plays a very important role in the Android domain & its a must have feature in the mini browsers.Realizing the drawbacks,Mozilla has promised to implement Flash in the future versions, but lets hope they do it before Chrome gets released.
