Hulu, which apparently was about to go under the hammer scrapped the deal altogether. It all started way back in June when Hulu was tipped to be sold to Yahoo at an undisclosed amount, but apparent intra-management issues forced Yahoo to back out at the last moment. Then Microsoft also decided to pull out of the deal, apparently unimpressed with the features & further implications. This was followed by a Tussle among Amazon,AT & T and also Verizon Wireless, but none of them were able to arrive at a consensus with Hulu to broker the deal.NetFlix,DirecTV & Starz also joined the rat race, but unfortunately they had large communication gaps including the max rights which resulted in termination of the deal.
With Hulu just receiving low bidding deals, the management has decided to scrap off the low budget deals & released a statement along with Disney:
“Since Hulu holds a unique and compelling strategic value to each of its owners, we have terminated the sale process and look forward to working together to continue mapping out its path to even greater success. Our focus now rests solely on ensuring that our efforts as owners contribute in a meaningful way to the exciting future that lies ahead for Hulu.”
Whats next for hulu?
