The partnership between Sony & Ericsson has always been a precarious one not only for the customers, but also for the investors. While most of us are accustomed with the Sony Brand, only the techies might be aware of the Ericsson Brand these days. Both Sony & Ericsson entered into a mutual symbiotic contract 10 years ago, with Sony now having thoughts about negating it.The contract which enabled Sony & Ericsson establish its foundations in the mobile industry might simply cease to exit.Sony has decided to Buy out Ericsson's 50% Stake in Sony. With the markets going from back to worse & Sony's share plummeting to a 3% things are going to be rough down the line for both.
The biggest problem will probably will be how the patents are going to be divided between them.Obviously with already market issues, dragging each other to court for Patent violations will definitely be the last thing on their minds.Even coming with a decent hardware, the Sony Ericsson brand hasn't been able to make quite an impact in the SmartPhone industry as expected & currently is the bottom-feeder in the mobile industry.Even Xperia play,Sony's latest installment was a complete disaster.Experts claimed that the phone which came with a full gamepad,it would have done better under the Sony Playstation brandname rather than Sony Ericsson just like what Nokia did for the N-Gage.Is moving out of the deal a better option or its better to stick together?
